Sustainability

Made responsibly. Made to last.

We believe great branding should not come at the cost of the planet. From local manufacturing to ethical sourcing, sustainability is woven into how we work.

Our Approach

Sustainability built into every stitch.

Local Manufacturing

Our in-house CMT facility in Riverhorse Valley, Durban reduces transport emissions and supports the local economy.

Ethical Sourcing

We partner with suppliers who meet strict labour and environmental standards - no exceptions.

Waste Reduction

Continuous improvement in cutting, batching and remnant reuse to minimise textile waste at every stage.

Future Focused

Exploring recycled fibres, water-based inks and circular product lifecycles for the next generation of merchandise.

Local Production

Manufactured in Durban, delivered across South Africa.

Keeping production local means fewer air miles, faster turnaround times, and direct quality control. Our Riverhorse Valley facility handles cut, make and trim operations for uniforms, merchandise and corporate apparel.

By manufacturing locally we also invest in the communities we serve - creating jobs, developing skills, and building a stronger South African textile industry from the ground up.

Materials & Sourcing

Responsible choices at every step.

We actively seek out recycled and organic fabric options, water-based printing inks, and packaging made from recycled content. Where possible, we recommend sustainable alternatives to our clients.

Our supplier audit process ensures that every partner in our chain meets baseline ethical and environmental standards - because transparency matters.

At a glance

Where we already stand.

Rooftop solar PV

Core operations run on on-site renewable electricity, which also charges the first electric vehicle in our fleet.

SEDEX member

Registered on the SEDEX platform, with an independent ethical and environmental (SMETA) audit planned.

Diverted from landfill

Stock, off-cuts, cartons and hazardous waste routed to named, reputable recovery partners.

70% LPG fleet

Direct-to-store national distribution through MDS Collivery, managed in-house.

Waste & circularity

Kept out of landfill, put to good use.

  • Redundant and end-of-line stock is donated to Nation Changers (The Clothing Box), who debrand the clothing and distribute it to people in need.
  • Fabric off-cuts and redundant raw material go to a specialist fabric-recycling partner rather than the bin.
  • Cartons and paper are recycled through Mpact Recycling, South Africa's leading recycler.
  • Hazardous branding waste - inks, solvents and contaminated materials - is segregated and removed only by a registered contractor.

Water stewardship

Leading on water, beyond our own walls.

Our major fabric mill partner runs a dedicated Effluent Treatment Plant that treats and monitors textile wastewater and recycles air-conditioning condensate - so water stewardship is built in upstream of us.

At Riverhorse Valley we are driving a more sustainable water solution not just for our own operation but for the wider business park, with a rainwater harvesting system in the pipeline to cut our reliance on municipal supply. In branding we favour water-based inks wherever commercially viable.

Distribution

Direct to store, cleaner on the road.

We distribute directly to stores nationally through MDS Collivery, managed in-house. Around 70% of their fleet runs on LPG - lower CO2 and significantly lower particulate matter and NOx than diesel - supported by route optimisation, preventative maintenance and paperless electronic proof of delivery.

Digital-first

Paperless by default.

Ordering, quoting, approvals and internal workflows all run through our own systems. Printing is reserved for the waybills and invoices that have to travel with physical orders, which meaningfully cuts paper consumption and the waste that comes with it.

Governance

Owned at the top.

Our Environmental Policy is CEO-signed and reviewed annually, with a named senior manager accountable for compliance under the National Environmental Management Act, the NEM: Waste Act and eThekwini bylaws. We are a SEDEX member with an independent ethical and environmental (SMETA) audit planned, and are compiling baseline energy, water and waste data to set measurable reduction targets.
